     Jane Pirie was born on 3 April 1887 at 219 Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.1,2 She was the daughter of Alexander Pirie and Jessie Cowie. Her family was known by the tee-name of "Buxer".
She was listed as head of household's daughter in the 1891 census at Church Street, Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland. She married David Ritchie at Alexandra Cafe, Market street, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, on 16 October 1908.5,2 As of 16 October 1908, her married name was Jane Ritchie. Jane Ritchie emigrated in March 1913 from Glasgow, Scotland, along with husband David Ritchie, on the ship ‘Letitia’. They arrived in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada on 12 March 1913 and settled in Prince Rupert, British Columbia, Canada.2 Jane died on 26 July 1971 at Prince Rupert, British Columbia, Canada, at age 84.2 She was buried on 30 July 1971 at Fairview Cemetery, Prince Rupert, British Columbia, Canada.6,2
