     Patrick Breslin was born on 23 May 1921 at Clydebank, Dunbartonshire, Scotland.1,2 He was the son of Patrick Breslin and Rose Ann Doherty. Patrick Breslin was a riveter at a Clydebank shipyard and then a merchant seaman. Patrick died on 26 June 1941 at sea aboard SS River Lugar at age 20. Ordinary Seaman Patrick Breslin was killed on active service on 26th June 1941. He was aboard the SS River Lugar which was carrying a load of iron ore from Pepel, West Africa and bound for Liverpool as part of a sixty ship convoy, SL-78. The River Lugar was torpedoed and sunk by German U-boat U-69, three hundred miles south west of the Canary Islands. The captain, 34 crew and one passenger were lost.2,3
