     George was born at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 5 November 1811.1 He was the son of Alexander Wood and Helen Pirie. George Wood was baptized on 12 November 1811 at Parish of Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland.1 His family was known by the tee-name of "King". He was a fisherman. He married Margaret Mair at Parish of Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland, on 1 January 1835.2,3
He was listed as head of household in the 1851 census at Pulteney Street, Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.
