Alexander Pirie was a fisherman. Alexander Pirie was a crew member of the Findochty boat, Helen Ann BF 657, which was wrecked in the Pentland Firth on Friday 24 June 1887. His father was the skipper. The crew were in the water for over two hours clinging to buoys and oars before a rescue boat reached them. Five of the crew were rescued but James Pirie, son of the skipper, was lost.
