     John was born at Treeroot, Fyvie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, on 4 August 1828.1 He was the son of James Cheyne and Isabella Horn. John Cheyne was baptized on 8 August 1828 at Parish of Fyvie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.2
