     Jane Sutherland was born on 18 August 1870 at Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.1,2 She was the daughter of George Sutherland and Jane Smith. Her family was known by the tee-name of "Do" or "Doh". She married James Anderson at Findochty, Banffshire, Scotland, on 14 December 1894.2 As of 14 December 1894, her married name was Jane Anderson.2
