     Lavinia was born at Rockland All Saints, Norfolk, England, circa 1858. She was the daughter of John Whiterod. She married Fergus O'Connor Lanchester at Fersfield Parish Church, Fersfield, Norfolk, England, on 22 November 1876.1 As of 22 November 1876, her married name was Lavinia Lanchester.
She was listed as head of household's wife in the 1881 census at Common, Fersfield, Norfolk, England. Those recorded in the household were: Furgus (sic) Lanchester, head; Lavinia Lanchester, wife; Thornton Lanchester, son.2
