James Bruce

     James Bruce was born on 30 October 1907 at 402 Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.1 He was the son of James Bruce and Helen Jane Mair. He married Mary Goodchild at Elgin, Elginshire, Scotland, in 1931.2 James Bruce was in the Royal Naval Patrol Service. James died on 2 April 1941 at sea off St. Abb's Head, Berwickshire, Scotland, at age 33. He served in the Royal Naval Patrol Service aboard HM Trawler Cramond Island as Engineman, and was killed when she was attacked by a German Ju 88 aircraft 3 miles east of St. Abb's Head.3,1 He was buried after 2 April 1941 at Hillhead Cemetery, Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.4
