He married Margaret Ann Geddes at Gollachy Village, Enzie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 12 February 1874.1 He was the informant for, and present at, John Geddes Pirie's birth at Gollachy Village, Parish of Enzie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 23 July 1875.2,3 He married Jane Geddes at St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, on 17 July 1886. He was the informant for Walter George Pirie's birth at 3 Gordon Street, Portgordon, Banffshire, Scotland, on 14 August 1894.4,5 John died on 23 October 1938 at Seafield Cottage Hospital, Buckie, Banffshire, Scotland.6,7 He was buried after 23 October 1938 at Rathven Old Churchyard, Main Road, Rathven, Banffshire, Scotland.7
