Thomas died on 4 September 1929 at Monongahela River, Clairton, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, USA, at age 48. He drowned due to falling in the Monongahela River whilst at work at Marine Ways dock, Coal Valley, Clairton.5 He was buried on 6 September 1929 at Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, USA.5
