     James Robert Sutherland was born circa 1900 at Findochty, Banffshire, Scotland.1 He was the son of John Sutherland and Helen Smith. His family was known by the tee-name of "Do" or "Doh". James Robert Sutherland was a fisherman. He married Jessie Bella Flett at 54 Castle Street, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, on 9 September 1924.1
