William Goodbrand

     William Goodbrand was born on 7 May 1871 at Portsoy, Banffshire, Scotland.1 He was the son of George Goodbrand and Jessie Sutherland.
He was listed as head of household's son in the 1881 census at 22 Lower Seatown, Portsoy, Banffshire, Scotland. Those recorded in the household were: Jessie Goodbrand, wife; Mary Wood, daughter; Wm Goodbrand, son; James Goodbrand, son; George Wood, grandson.2
William Goodbrand was a fisherman. William died on 20 January 1887 at sea about thirty miles off Kinnaird Head, Fraserburgh, Scotland, at age 15. He perished with the Portsoy fishing boat 'Annie' that was in a collision with a steam trawler and sank. The entire crew was lost.3,4
