John Donaldson

     John Donaldson was born on 18 August 1911 at 293 Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.1,2 He was the son of Alexander Donaldson and Catherine Ann Pirie. John Donaldson was a seaman. He served in the Royal Naval Reserve and was skipper of HM Trawler 'Staunch' FY 1591 from 19 June 1940 until 30 April 1941. He married Margaret Smith Campbell at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 9 November 1940.2 John died on 30 April 1941 at age 29.3,2 He was buried after 30 April 1941 at Gilliingham (Woodlands) Cemetery, Gilliingham, Kent, England.3
