     John Pirie was born circa 1895 at Buckie, Banffshire, Scotland.1 He was the son of Alexander Pirie and Mary Tait. His family was known by the tee-name of "Buxer". John Pirie was a ship carpenter. He married Isabella Cuthbert at Buckie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 4 December 1919.1
