William Mair

     William Mair was born on 31 January 1816 at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.1 He was the son of Alexander Mair and Ann Wood. William Mair was baptized on 3 February 1816 at Parish of Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland.1,2 His family was known by the tee-name of "Big". He was a whitefisher and fisherman. He married Margaret Innes at Parish of Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland, on 9 July 1843.3
