James Mair

     James Mair was born circa 1825. He was the son of John Mair and Helen Wood. His family was known by the tee-name of "Pundlar". James Mair was a fisherman. He married Janet McIntosh at Rathven, Banffshire, Scotland, in 1855.1 He was the informant for, and present at, John Mair's birth at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 3 February 1856.2 James died on 23 November 1857 at sea, off Scar Nose, Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland. He perished with the Portknockie fishing boat 'Vigilant' off Scar Nose, Portknockie during a storm. The entire crew was lost.
