Her family was known by the tee-name of "Willackie". The registration of birth of Jessie Ann Pirie was corrected on 31 January 1900 on the authority of the Sheriff of Banff to record Paternity.2
She was listed as head of household's granddaughter in the 1901 census at 131 Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland. Those recorded in the household were: William Pirie, head; Ann Pirie, wife; Georgina Pirie, daughter; Jessie A. Pirie, daughter; John Pirie, son; George Pirie, son; Jemima Pirie, daughter; Arthur Pirie, son; Jessie A. Pirie, daughter (sic).3
