He married Ann Falconer at Parish of Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland, on 16 November 1841.2,3

The entire crew was lost. They were George Pirie "Dodle" (skipper), John Wood "Deacon", James Mair "Bids", John Mair "Bids", James Mair "Pundlar", John Mair, John Innes, William Mair "Howdie", William Wood "Post".5,6,3 He was buried on 21 January 1858 at Cullen Old Kirkyard, Old Church Road, Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland.5
