On 15 June 1864 her name was legally changed to Elsie-Jane Wood She was initially registered with the name Jane which was changed after about a month to Elsie-Jane.1,2 Her family was known by the tee-name of "King" or "King Grocer".
She was listed as head of household's daughter in the 1871 census at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland. Those recorded in the household were: John Wood, head; Ann Wood, wife; Margt Ann Wood, daughter; Elsie Jean Wood, daughter; John Wood, son; George Wood, son.5
Elsie-Jane died on 10 January 1875 at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, at age 10.6,4
