     Arthur Mair Slater was born on 5 September 1915 at 488 Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.1,2 He was the son of Joseph Slater and Helen Mair. His family was known by the tee-name of "Duncan". He married Lillian Hilda Ward at Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England, on 26 December 1936.2 Arthur died before 31 March 1999.2 He was buried on 31 March 1999 at Magdalen Cemetery, Oriel Avenue, Gorleston, Norfolk, England.2
