Simone Prunier Mair

     Simone Prunier Mair was born on 9 March 1937 at 16 Schoolhendry Street, Portsoy, Banffshire, Scotland.1,2 She was the daughter of William Mair and Mary McKay. Her family was known by the tee-name of "Shavie". In 1935 Madame Simone Prunier opened a branch of her famous Paris restaurant Maison Prunier in London. She decided to award a trophy to the drifter that netted the highest crannage of herring in one shot, in one night. In 1936 the steam drifter 'Boy Andrew' was the first winner of the Prunier Herring Trophy. William Mair was the skipper and landed the prize catch of 231 cran of herring, even though they left behind some of their nets, unhauled. His third daughter was born just after the trophy was won and was named Simone Prunier Mair after Madame Prunier. She was often known as 'Mona.2' She married John Hector at Station Hotel, Seafield Street, Portsoy, Banffshire, Scotland, on 1 March 1957.1 As of 1 March 1957, her married name was Simone Prunier Hector. As of 12 September 1993, her married name was Simone Prunier Walker. Simone died on 15 September 2014 at Aberdeen, Scotland, at age 77.3,1 She was buried on 19 September 2014 at Aberdeen Cemetery, Hazlehead, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.3
