     Jessie Helen Pirie was born on 13 June 1887 at 77 Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland. The informant for her birth was stated as William Bruce, grandfather. Since Robert Bruce was her grandfather, it is most likely that the informant was her great grandfather, William Bruce, who in the 1881 and 1891 censuses was living at the same address.1,2 She was the daughter of Alexander Pirie and Jessie Ann Bruce. Her family was known by the tee-name of "Buxer".
She was listed as head of household's great granddaughter in the 1891 census at 77 East Street, Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland. Those recorded in the household were: William Bruce, head; William Pirie, son-in-law (sic); Jessie A Bruce or Pirie, daughter (sic); David Pirie, grand son (sic); Jessie H Pirie, grand daughter (sic); Georgina Pirie, grand daughter (sic).3

She was listed as head of household's granddaughter in the 1901 census at 141 Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland. Those recorded in the household were: Jessie M Pirie, head; Jessie H Pirie, lodger?.4,5
Jessie died on 4 November 1901 at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, at age 14.6
