     Rachel Maria Pirie was born on 29 November 1926 at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland. She was the daughter of Alexander Pirie and Margaret Helen Cheyne. Rachel Maria Pirie was a nurse. Rachel was a probationer at Peterhead Hospital before she was aged 16. She did her nursing training at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and then was a sister tutor at Edzell, Angus. In Australia, Rachel became an occupational nursing sister at the BP Refinery (Kwinana) Pty Ltd. As of 1953, her married name was Rachel Maria McDonald. She emigrated in April 1955 from Southampton, Hampshire, England; the family, James McDonald, Rachel McDonald (née Pirie) and Pamela McDonald, emigrated to Australia on the ship ‘Moreton Bay’. She was found on a passenger list for April 1955 of the passenger ship 'Moreton Bay'. Those recorded in the passenger list were: James J McDonald, Rachel M McDonald, Pamela J McDonald.1 She immigrated on 31 May 1955 to Fremantle, Western Australia, Australia. As of 2 May 1981, her married name was Rachel Maria McGushin. Rachel died on 24 August 1997 at Perth, Western Australia, Australia, at age 70.2 Her body was cremated after 24 August 1997 at Fremantle Cemetery Crematorium S, Carrington Street, Palmyra, Western Australia, Australia.3,2
