Alexander Pirie

     Alexander Pirie was born on 5 April 1862 at Parish of Seafield, Banffshire, Scotland.1,2 He was the son of William Pirie and Jean Gray. His family was known by the tee-name of "Buxer".
He was listed as head of household's son in the 1871 census at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland. Those recorded in the household were: William Pirie, head; Jean Pirie, wife; Margt Pirie, daughter; Isabella Pirie, daughter; William Pirie, son; John Pirie, son; Alex Pirie, son; David Pirie, son; Jean Pirie, daughter.3

Alexander was blind and known as "Blind Sanee". In the 1891 census his occuption is recorded as "fiddler."2
The Valuation Roll for the County of Banff for Year 1905-1906 shows that Alexander Pirie "Buxer" was tenant occupier of 196 Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.6 He was the informant for, and present at, Jane Pirie's death at 206 Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 8 August 1910.7,2
He was listed as head of household in the 1911 census at 206 Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland. Those recorded in the household were: Alex Pirie, head; Isabella Slater, housekeeper.8
Alexander died on 22 April 1932 at Banff District Asylum at age 70.9,2 He was buried on 23 April 1932 at Cullen Cemetery, Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland.10
