Drifter Maida which had been requisitioned in November 1939 as a Minesweeper. She was mined off Margate, on the East Coast of England on the 16th March 1940.3 He was buried after 16 March 1940 at Hillhead Cemetery, Portknockie, Moray, Scotland.4
