William Riddoch

     William Riddoch was born illegitimate on 23 February 1851 at Alvah, Banffshire, Scotland.1 He was the son of Alexander Riddoch and Jane Pirie. William Riddoch was a farm servant, general labourer, carter, wholesale grocer's warehouseman and night watchman. He married Isabella Fraser at Fishrie Green, New Byth, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, on 19 June 1875.2,3,4
He was listed as head of household in the 1881 census at 19 School Lane, Banff, Banffshire, Scotland. Those recorded in the household were: William Riddoch, head; Isabella Riddoch, wife; Elisabeth Riddoch, daughter; Isabella Riddoch, daughter; Jane Riddoch, daughter; Maggie L Riddoch, daughter.5

He was listed as head of household in the 1891 census at Buchan Street, Macduff, Banffshire, Scotland. Those recorded in the household were: William Riddoch, head; Isabella Riddoch, wife; Isabella Riddoch, daughter; Jeannie Riddoch, daughter; Annie Riddoch, daughter; Katie Riddoch, daughter.6

William Riddoch was found on a passenger list for 13 May 1910 of the passenger ship 'Empress of Ireland'.8 William died on 18 July 1914 at Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, at age 63.9 He was buried after 18 July 1914 at Mountain View Cemetery, 5455 Fraser Street, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.9
