George Mair

     George Mair was born on 26 July 1786 at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.1,2 He was baptized on 27 July 1786 at Parish of Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland.1 He was the son of James Mair and Margaret Sclater. His family was known by the tee-name of "Bobbin". George Mair was a fisherman. He married Jean Watson at Parish of Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland, on 2 March 1815.3,4
He was listed as head of household in the 1851 census at North Extremity, Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland. Those recorded in the household were: George Mair, head; Jean Mair, wife; David Mair, son; William Mair, son; John Mair, son; Caithren Mair, servant.5
George Mair died on 16 August 1858 at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, at age 72.2
